Ferdinand BEYER emigrated to Canada about 1850 and was part owner of the Gillies-Beyer Central Canada Machine Works at Carleton Place. His wife, Mary Ann Sample, was from Ashton. They had 10 children, most of whom moved west. He was active in his church, Baptist, I believe.
