Hi Gwen I live in Prince Edward County & doing family history on the Boyds of Huntley/March and Garvins of Goulbourn Townships. In one line of the family, I've gone back to James Boyd b. abt. 1800 in County Antrim, m. Martha Garner b. abt. 1800. However have come to a road block with my Grandmother, Ellen Jane Boyd b. July 26, 1866 in Huntley, m. Thomas Garvin July 26, 1892 in Huntley. He was b. August 26. 1867 in Ashton, d. March 7, 1950. I have not been able to confirm who Ellen Jane's parents were as they do not seem to fit into the James Boyd line. I am trying to arrange a trip to Ottawa to do some research, but wonder if you might have any suggestions for my search that could be done on the Internet? needless to say, I am a green horn at this business. I am planning to take a course with Bob Dawe at our local community college to get more knowledgeable. Don't know if this is what you wanted to hear, but it was good to be able to talk to someone about my roadblock. Look forward to hearing from you.
