Hi Dallas, Here is some info on Antoine (Antony) Beauchamp 1790-1850. He was one of the very first settlers in Renfrew with his property on the site that is now the town of Renfrew. He had come from Quebec to work with Joseph Brunette (this could have been his brother in law). I have no immediate info on Antoine's parents. Antoine eventually settled on lot 6 con 2, Horton. He married Margaret McLaren who was born June 19, 1903 at Lochernhead, Perthshire. She was the eldest daughter of Malcolm McLaren and Janet Fisher. She came to Canada in 1825 on the ship Niagara and settled in McNab Township. Margaret McLaren Beauchamp, daughter of Antoine and Margaret, married David Airth, son of Sgt. Henry Airth, on Jan 23, 1845 David and Margaret had four children. 1842 census for Horton shows Antoine owning 100 acres, with 20 acres improved. He owned nine head of cattle, one horse, nine sheep, three hogs. In the previous year he produced 300 bushels of potatoes, 120 lbs of maple sugar, 36 yards of flannel and 26 lbs of wool. 1851 census shows his widow as the farmer on lot 6, con 2. Antoine died Dec, 16, 1850, aged 60 years. His wife died Nov. 2, 1888, aged 85 years. They are buried in Martin cemetary, just east of Renfrew town limits.
