    3. Hi Joanne, Me again - the one telling you about the books at the Arnprior Library - I'm also the list member I think you are referring to researching the Carr family. I don't know of an Ella May Carr, but that might only mean she is as yet undiscovered by me, not necessarily unconnected. Do you know if your Carrs were Irish? Or if they were Catholic or Protestant? It was a very big family, so your Ella could come from a branch I do not know of yet. You see William Carr (abt. 1800-1896) & Margaret Larrett came to Fitzroy Twp. about 1835 with daughter, Elizabeth, & then had 15 more children here! One son, John A. Carr, had 14 children! One of these was Frances Elizabeth Carr, my husband's grandmother. Do you have any more info. to go by? 1. [CAN-ONT-CARLETON] Deaths of John FRASER and Margaret [WHITE] FRASER on Gower North Twp.
    2. Diane Fraser
    3. I'm looking for the death dates/records for John FRASER [1809 - ?] and his wife, Margaret. John was born in Co. Armagh, IRELAND. John and Margaret were married in IRELAND. Their first 2 children were born there. Then they moved to SCOTLAND, and their next 2 children were born in SCOTLAND. Then they moved to North American [~1840] and settled in Gower North Twp. The remaineder of their family was born in Canada. They are listed in the census through 1871. The 1879-80 atlas lists a "John FRASIER" on 50 acres. This could be their son, John. I've checked the on-line cemetery indexes and I don't recognize them. Any ideas about how to find out when they died? Diane

    3. Hi Joanne and others: When I started my search of Carleton County...it was suggested that I check the book "Carleton Saga" by Harry Walker. I was able to find a copy for sale at www.abebooks.com at a reasonable price. (I just checked and there are many still available in many parts of the world). I purchased it and I must say that it is one of the best purchases that I have made! Even if you do not find 'your family' when you read it, you will have a wonderful overview of lives of the original settlers of Carleton County. The book, at least, will clarify for you the history of each township of Carleton. If you do not want to purchase the book, perhaps you can check local libraries for copies. Hope this helps. 1. [CAN-ONT-CARLETON] As Promised -- THE BIG PUSH IS ON -- Please Help!!!
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. --- MEMO MAY BE FORWARDED OR TRANSLATED --- To all - whether students, church members, genealogy and hiostorical groups, or just interested researchers:- THE BIG PUSH is one and we hope all who wish the 1911 Canadian census released will assist -- your help is needed for petitions, letters to both Senators and Members of Parliament. Newspaper publicity is needed -- ask your hometown editor to post a column -- and my e-mail address may be given [email protected] Bill S-12 by Senator Lorna Milne is in third Reading stage, some debate and then hopefully a positive VOTE. Following Parliamentary procedure the Bill S-12 would then go to House of Commons for approval. At present, BOTH House of Commons and Senate petitions are needed. When the Bill passes in the Senate, very possibly we will only need House of Commons after that -- I promise to let all know. During the past few weeks, NO petitions were received from Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, Nunavut/Yukon/N.W. Territories - could we change this fact???? To send letters, Gordon Watts has sample letters at http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/ Click on HOMEPAGE Addresses and wording is there -- save to disk or Copy and Paste. Postage is FREE and many respond better to something in an envelope! However, you might prefer to write your own letter -- your wishes, searches, lost ones, genetic diseases, but SIGN THE LETTER with complete address. Believe it or not, the same letter will do for all -- just change the name! Murray Calder will have his glorious ONE hour of debate due to the committee handling -- 13 other Bills dumped in 15 minutes!!! If anyone has watched CPAC they will note that Murray Calder does NOT look like a farmer -- but he is -- complete with a huge wheelbarrow which we wish to have filled --- by YOU -- the ONES WHO DESIRE CENSUS! Download census petitions -- a colourful sign is also there for your usage http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Petition.htm Adobe Acrobat is FREE -- acts as a reader -- must be downloaded. Petitions are in English and French Senate and House of Commons, plus English Non-Resident. Mail to either Gordon or myself -- we share petitions! If we all give this ONE HUGE PUSH before Easter, It will help -- there is a committee which ascertains the petitions in Ottawa -- approves them!! Students may use this as a different social science subject -- just add the name of the school so credit may be given. Let's SPRING INTO ACTION before Spring!!! Your help is Needed NOW!!! Muriel M. 2. Hello Anne Marie, I don't know if you have had any response re your request yet. ? There is a very good possibility that I will be researching at our library this coming Sat. March 9/02 - and time permitting would have a look for your McEnerny. First, it would be the 1861 Census. Second - Have you any more "specifics" as to district, county etc. in Ottawa, it makes it much easier to search the Census. On your death record that you mention for Katherine McEnerny, does it mention the - place of burial? That sometimes gives the district etc. If someone else has offered to do this look-up for you, please advise. With thanks, Dorothy E. Morris Whitby On.Can. Searching in the Ottawa areas; surnames - SURTEES, DOLE, WOTLEY, ELLIOTT, HILLMAN,CUMMINGS and many, many more. Happy hunting! :)
