    2. Ron Harris
    3. Dear Al Lewis, I have visited & enjoyed very much, your site "Bytown or Bust", many times. I was interested in your reference to Billings Bridge, as a great aunt of my husband's, Sarah Jane Harris,(b. 1876, Fitzroy, Carleton - 1938, Aylmer, Quebec) married Michael Whelan (b. 1870, Billings Bridge - abt. 1950, Aylmer, Quebec) in Ottawa, 1904. I have also seen "Hurdman Bridge" used in relation to Michael Whelan's origins. Is or was it near Billings Bridge? Or was it an alternate name for Billings Bridge? Also, if you or anyone else reading this has any further info. about Sarah & Michael's family, I would be glad to hear about it. I know Sarah's ancestry & I know that Michael was the son of Patrick Whelan & Catherine McGrath. I have learned that Sarah & Michael had 2 daughters: Adeline b. October 27, 1904 & Mary Agnes b. February 24, 1915. As far as I can tell, neither girl ever married, but due to the large gap of 11 years between their births, I'm wondering if there were any more children? I am still hopeful that I might find living descendants somewhere. Thank you! Mary Harris

    1. [CAN-ONT-CARLETON] To Bill and Linda: re Albion Road Cemetery
    2. Al Lewis
    3. Bill and/or Linda: Whereabouts on Albion Road is this cemetery? North or South side of Albion? East or west of Bank Street? I'd like to take a drive over there. Before 1900 or so, there was a separate village called "Billings Bridge". Some of my ancestors were buried at the Catholic cemetery at Billings Bridge. This might be the cemetery on Albion, unless there's a cemetery attached to St. Thomas Aquinas Church which is on Kilborn. You say that most of the surnames in the cemetery are French. There may be some Irish "residing" there as well. By the way, St. Thomas on Kilborn was famous for it's teen dances in the 1950's. Thanks for the memories! ... 3. Hi Bill I used to live right behind that cemetery and all I ever heard it referred to was St. Bernard's which is the local Catholic Church. There is also a Protestant and Jewish Cemetery closeby. But the Catholic one was right on Albion Rd in front of the Condo. I would think that St. Bernard's would have the information on the Cemetery. If you normally live out of town let me know and I will gladly call for you. William appearred to have two brothers(also in the Perth area). Their names were John and Charles. I have noticed that there are numerous Carnwaths buried in Beechwood Cemetery. Mary married Alexander Taylor of Ottawa 28 Apr 1879. Alexander died and Martha married by great grandfather William Stuart Staughton 26 Dec. 1883 in Toronto. 1. [CAN-ONT-CARLETON] Researchers Have A New Toy -- BUT Will We Ever Obtain 1906 & 1911???
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To All Researchers:- Please do not misunderstand me -- I am interested in the online 1901 census the same as the next person -- also the 1881 census CD. Both are very interesting -- plus the 1885 map which has disappeared! However, we must face it -- the time is NOW if we wish to obtain access to both 1906 and 1911 census records. Gordon A. Watts, the other co-chair of the Canada Census Committee, suggested we all send Access To Information requests to two given addresses, only $5.00 each. Also the money would likely be send back as these ATIs never seem to become fulfilled. A refusal would then allow us to complain -- Gordon had this information. We showered The Hon. Alan Rock with faxes -- has anyone received a reply -- the faxes I sent went to two different addresses in case one address was "dove-tailed" into another department. Has anyone heard any news that we have access to the 1911 census? No, you have not -- but Senator Lorna Milne and Murray Calder are still accepting petitions for Senate and House of Commons. The federal lawsuit for the prairies 1906 census is underway -- but personally, how can the same lawyer represent the YES and NO side?? At present I do not have sufficient petitions on hand to tabulate for Senator Milne -- ONE signature yesterday. How many would purchase a CD of any province of the 1911 census? Would be a great money-maker for all! The 1906 census is very important due to many immigrants at that time to the prairies. Have you checked the recent scoreboards? QUEBEC needs attention! IF any researcher WANTS the 1906 and 1911 census , ACT NOW!!! Gordon and I are only two people! Muriel M.
