    1. [CAN-Nunavut] [ADMIN] The most frequently asked question of subscribers is:
    2. Manaia Alofa
    3. Rootsweb mailing lists are automatic and are managed by list robots. These robots take care of subscription requests and bouncing (rejected) emails. The most frequently asked question of subscribers is: ***************** "Why have I been unsubscribed?" Answer: If your list mail cannot be delivered for any reason, the list robot unsubscribes you after a certain number of failed attempts. (For the CAN-NUNAVUT list the maximum member bounce score is: 3) This can happen for a number of reasons - some of the more common reasons are that your mailbox is full, your spam filter is blocking the list mail, your ISP is blocking list mail from Rootsweb, you have put an automatic responder on your email.... If you were unsubscribed and did not wish to be taken off the mailing list, simply subscribe again. However be forewarned that if whatever caused the list robot to unsubscribe you the first time is still happening, it will simply remove you again after a specific number of bounces--3--(rejected list mail to your email address). But as a courtesy to all CAN-NUNAVUT listers, I can re-subscribe you manually. Just let me know. ****************** Other questions asked are: "How do I unsubscribe?" Answer: Simply follow the instructions at the bottom of every list mail message. ****************** "Why is my mail not getting to the mailing list?" Answer: Make sure that you are sending from the same email you are subscribed under. The list robot does not recognize names. It only recognizes email addresses. If your sending email address is not on the subscriber list, your email will be rejected. ****************** "Why am I not getting list mail?" Answer: Check the HelpDesk notices in the yellow box for announcements about any technical problems with Rootsweb mail. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ If you don't find the answer to your problem on the HelpDesk page you need to check if you are still subscribed to the list. You can get a list of all your subscribed to mailing lists from Password Central: http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ If Password Central doesn't include all lists to which you should be subscribed, re-subscribe to any lists that are missing from your subscribed lists by sending a new e-mail to: LISTNAME-request@rootsweb.com (replacing the word LISTNAME with the actual list name). Put only the word SUBSCRIBE in the subject and message body of your e-mail. ****************** Should anyone need further elaboration then you may give me--Yours Truly--a contact. GRIN --Manaia [List-Admin] CAN-NUNAVUT-admin@rootsweb.com My gratitudes to Lorine McGinnis Schulze for sharing.

    1. [Can-Nunavut] [ADMIN] Welcome!
    2. Manaia Alofa
    3. Welcome! I am Manaia the list administrator for Rootsweb's CAN-NUNAVUT mailing list. You can contact me personally at CAN-NUNAVUT-admin@rootsweb.com. A mailing list for anyone with a genealogical interest in the territory of Nunavut, Canada. I give a wide latitude to list discussion because I believe that the list is here as a research tool for you, the subscriber. However there some things that should not be posted to the list: 1. Remember that all messages to the list are archived by Rootsweb and can be seen by *anyone* at any time by clicking on the Archives link on the Rootsweb home page. Keep that in mind and look your message over carefully before clicking on "Send". If you wouldn't want your mom, spouse, best friend, or clergyperson reading what you wrote, you probably should send the message privately. 2. E-Mail Forwards that are Virus-warnings, Jokes, Chain Letters, etc., no matter how dire, funny or how worthy the cause. If you think the list needs to hear about it, then please email me personally for my thoughts. 3. Flames or rude emails critizing another subscriber's posting. If someone makes a mistake and it is a problem, I will take care of it. This is a list for including people, not excluding them. We need to all work together to solve our research problems. .... Again, Welcome and Enjoy! --Manaia [List-Admin] CAN-NUNAVUT-admin@rootsweb.com .............. listmaster@rootsweb.com wrote: Your request to adopt the mailing list 'CAN-NUNAVUT' has been approved. :: SNIP :: Regards, RootsWeb.com Listmaster Listmaster.com

    3. It is with sadness and a personal sense of loss that I advise of the passing of Muriel M. Davidson, my Co-chair on the Canada Census Committee. I never met Muriel face-to-face, however during the eight year course of our campaign to regain public access to historic Census records we had grown close through our frequent telephone calls and email messages. Muriel was a tireless worker on our Census campaign but even in the busiest periods of that effort she still found time to assist others in their search for their personal ancestry. Following our successful campaign Muriel continued working to coordinate efforts to index the newly released Census records through www.automatedgenealogy.com . In addition to working on the Census campaign and indexing projects, throughout her lifetime Muriel volunteered her services to others in various ways, some of which are detailed in her obituary below. Muriel died peacefully, with family members at her bedside, some time before 1:00 am Tuesday 10 June 2008. Those wishing to send cards to express their personal condolences may send them to Family of Muriel M. Davidson 25 Crestview Avenue Brampton, Ontario, L6W 2R8 Emails may be sent to her daughter, Lynden Cowan at lynden@lyndencowan.com . Rest in Peace Muriel. You will not be forgotten. Gordon A. 1. [CAN-NUNAVUT] Muriel M. Davidson - update
    2. Gordon A. Watts
    3. Good morning All. This morning I have been advised by the family of Muriel M. Davidson, my Co-chair of the Canada Census Committee, that her medical situation has deteriorated to the point where she is not expected to recover. While undergoing surgery to remove gallstones they discovered cancer surrounding the gallbladder and extending to the liver and abdominal wall. Muriels kidneys have shut down and she may only have hours left to her. Her family is gathering at her bedside as I write this message. At this time I am certain that many of you will wish to include Muriel and her family in your thoughts and prayers, as they are in mine. I will keep you posted regarding any change in Muriels situation. Gordon A.
