Hello all; I am researching the family of Joseph Benedict Whipple and Sarah E. Jenkins. From information I have received from other sources it is believed that Joseph and Sarah married in Yarmouth in about 1823. My question is where might I find the marriage records of Joseph and Sarah? Thank you for any help that can be provided. Sheila Jones Ontario

It lists her maiden name as Doucette. BUT her parents were John Doucette and Marguerite Muis. My grandparents were off a generation in family names apparently. Do you know anything about these new names. Agnes married George Burrage in 1887 in Wakefield MA and census shows her born 1867 and she died 1971. Thanks

Or was there some kind of epidemic in those same years? This whole family seems to have disappeared sometime after the 1901 census and before the 1911 census. I can't even locate them anywhere in Canada. Can anyone out there help me with this? Any help will be gratefully accepted. Tom

Greetings All. FYI. The latest issue of 'Gordon Watts Reports' has now been posted online. It can be accessed at http://globalgenealogy.com/globalgazette/gazgw/gazgw-0092.htm Topics in this week's issue include: In Memorium - Ryan Taylor Images of Nova Scotia 1870 - 1940 British school children contest in 1900s Federal programs cut - Canada A lesson learned Readers of my column may also be interested in viewing the "featured web site" of the latest issue of the Global Gazette. This "featured web site" is the Halifax Explosion Remembrance Book -- a database listing of all those who died in the explosion that took place 6 December 1917. The Halifax Explosion Remembrance Book was originally developed in 2002 as a commemorative project sponsored by the Halifax Foundation and its chair, the late Edmund Morris, a former city mayor, to mark the 85th anniversary of the Halifax Explosion. The objective of the project, an exhibition of Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management, was to compile a definitive listing of the known dead from the disaster of 6 December 1917. Two end-products resulted: a fully searchable electronic database for extended research purposes; and an abbreviated, limited-edition version produced in paper format for general display and reference use. The database contains 1,950 names of the men, women and children known to have died either in the Explosion, in the days immediately after, or in the following months as a direct result of the events of 6 December. The supporting information provided in the database, fully referenced and sourced in this online version, was compiled by searching various records held at Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management. I did check the Census for 1901 and found the family. Muise, Rueben - June/1872 - age 29 Muise, Annie E.- wife Aug. 14, 1869 - 31 Muise, Mary E. - dau. 25/Oct/1890 - 10 Muise, James E. - son - 5/June/1893 - 7 Muise, Clara E. - dau. -18/June/1895 - 5 Muise, Lennie M. - dau. -5/May/1890 [should be 1900]-10 mths Muise, Alice M. - SISTER - Sept/1884 - 16 {Note : Annie E. was listed as Annie F. mistakenly] When I checked the 1911 Census for Yarmouth I could not find the family at first. Then I found Clara - she was living with a family of Bernard Smith and his wife Sadie who had 3 dau. and two sons. She was listed as a Boarder- age 15 - Student. With another family of Monde Muise and wife Jane, was Lennie Muise age 11 - student, listed as adopted daughter. Monde was age 70 and wife Jane age 73. With the Jacquard family of Joseph and wife Sadie who had 3sons and two dau. was James Muise listed as Lodger, single age 17 yrs and occup. listed laborer at the Wharf. I could not find their father and mother Rueben and Annie E. Further research at the St. Ambrose Cemetery -headstone Muise, Rueben 1870 - 1955 Anna Elizabeth 1874 -1902 wife of Rueben Muise The mother had died and the children were living with different families. I could not find Rueben listed and he may have gone to the U.S.A. to work. >From some notes I had for marriages was a listing for Clara Edna Muise and under the husband side it was listed as Urbain [which is Rueben] which should have been in the column for father's name but no listing for husband's name. It was dated 1914 no month or day listed. So I assume she married in Yarmouth in 1914 and then moved to U.S.A.
