    2. hello i'm a bearce from the boston area seeking info on the family line to canada did this migration start because of our war with england? thanks rob Hi Rob, Good question. Long before the American Revolution there were many connections with families in the Colonies of Britain and colonies in Canada belonging to France. When the British finally won what we call the "French and Indian wars" the King of England King George, drove many of the French settlers from Canada around 1760 . At that time, well before any signs of an America Revolution, the king granted 50 acres of land to any man who would settle in the Canadian provinces and 15 acres to every male child over 15 years of age. This made the colonialist "rich men" over night. And began a 6 generation period of close ties to our Canadian cousins. Gordon Smith, Westford, mass
