    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Harvey, Jones, Mellish, Ridge Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YOC.2ACE/827 Message Board Post: All I have is a hand written note from a desk found in the attic by a distant cousin who added: "Thank you for your email of March 17th. Your letter was very interesting. I think I might have found the missing generation which would be Grandpa Harvey's (Kate Mellish's husband) grandfather. Am sorry it took me so long to get back to you, but this information was stored up in my brother's attic among other documents pertaining to other things. So, I spent last night going through loads of documents and found just one that pertained to the Harvey ancestors. His name was John Harvey and he was a sea captain. He died at sea in 1822, sailing from the Port of Liverpool, N.S. I have no idea when he was born. I wonder if a sea captain had to register at the town hall or with the maritime in order to get their license or is there a record kept of seamen who died at sea?" she sent me a scanned copy of the note which reads as follows: This Desk Belonged To Capt. John Harvey Who Died at Sea In the Year of our Lord 1822 (?--looks like "Sable ing") From the Port of Liverpool N.S ________________________________________________ It was Repaired by his Son John W. Harvey In the Year of our Lord 1876 ________ ________ I know from anecdotal information that Capt. John Harvey was born in CT and his wife was born in NS. His son John William Harvey#1 (was married to Susan F. Jones, daughter of Mehitabel Chadsey Jones and Capt. Smith Jones of NS,) moved to Boston and became a citizen and is my husband's great great grandfather. Any info would be appreciated. thanks.
