    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YOC.2ACE/840 Message Board Post: My search is for information pertaining to 6th great grandparents, William H. Douglass and his wife, Catherine VanBuskirk Vantuyl married in 1759, Staten Island NY. William Douglass, formerly of New York City, had been a major in the royal colonial troops under Colonel Peter Schuyler. The Continental Congress offered Major Douglass the title of commodore, a position he declined, taking no sides in the war, at the end of which he moved with his family to Shelburne, Nova Scotia, of which place, his father in law, Andies VanBuskirk, formally of New Jersey and of the royal army was mayor. Please contact me if you have any further information or can verify? Thank you very much. Susanne Simms
