One of my ancestors was a Martha Dunlop, who married Andrew Hammond around 1813 (possibly in the Liverpool area, possibly by the Rev. John Payzant), and based on some things I have come across, I wonder if Martha is a Gorham descendant. Thank you for any help you can give.

I would more than appreciate having your info. I have been obsessed with geneology for a while and trying to put the whole family together. There are sooo many Crowell's and Stoddart's, which makes it tricky to find the right ones. Wasn't Aunt Marion the best ? She was so much fun. Thanks Gordon.

    1. Re: [NSShelburne] A Mayflower connection to Shelburne county natives
    2. David E. Cann
    3. Alan, Congratulations on your membership. Given the number of seafaring folks as well as migrations in the general southern Nova Scotia area as well as New England area of the U. S., I think it safe to say that many of us have a connection to the Mayflower, either directly or indirectly, if we followed the correct lines in our ancestry. I have thought about doing what you did, but have never been successful in quite making the connection. I have a Bradford line, which family lore says descends from Gov. William Bradford, but EVERYONE with any Bradfords says that :~) and I have never made the connection. . . . yet. A general word of caution, though, and I am posting this to the list because it pertains to everyone. In the future, you might want to rethink putting your personal information (address, phone, etc.) in a post on a mailing list, as it can potentially be put to use by folks with less than honorable (or legal) intentions. Mail on this and all RW mailing lists goes into the Archives for all of us to research months and years in the future, so you might keep that in mind. Again, my congratulations. I have checked your list and find no connection to my own ancestors in Yarmouth or Shelburne, but perhaps it will come in the future. David List Admin -----Original Message----- From: "Alan C. 3. Dear Mayflower enthusiasts, Finally I too can say that MY application to the Mayflower Society has been approved! With the wonderful help and suggestions of Susan Roser (Dep. Gov. and Historian of the Canadian Society) and Eleanor Smith, a diligent researcher in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, I was able to locate enough reasonable documentation to prove my case. For those who also might have family connections to the South Shore region of Nova Scotia, and share surnames such as FREEMAN, RINGER and HARDING - I offer the following as my line from William Brewster: (1) Mayflower passenger William BREWSTER (ca 1566/67 England - 1644 Plymouth, MA) m. Mary ? ( - 1627 Plymouth, MA) (2) Patience BREWSTER (ca 1600 England - by 1634 Plymouth, MA) m. Thomas PRENCE (ca 1600 England - 1673 Plymouth, MA) (3) Mercy PRENCE (1627/31 Plymouth, MA - 1711 Eastham, MA) m. John FREEMAN (1626/7 England - 1719 Eastham, MA) (4) Nathaniel FREEMAN (1669 Eastham, MA - 1760 Eastham, MA) m. Mary HOWLAND (1665/6 Dartmouth, MA - 1742/3 Eastham, MA) (5) Lydia FREEMAN (1703 Eastham, MA- 1755 Rochester, MA) m. Elisha FREEMAN (1701 Eastham, MA- 1777 Liverpool.
