Hello~ In the CD "Ships & Seafarers of Atlantic Canada" I could find no record of Capt. CUNNINGHAM in the Masters/"foreign Masters" data. In the Crew/"foreign crew" databases there were a number of William CUNNINGHAM-s, but none from Nova Scotia. In the Owners data, I found a number of William CUNNINGHAM-s, with residences in Barrington, Shelburne Co., NS; & Antigonish, Antigonish Co, NS...but not Cape Sable Island. This is not an absolute complete list of NS seafarers. Hopefully someone else will be of more assistance. Happy hunting! Dear List, Has anyone on the list done any work on the Robinsons of early Shelburne? I am told that some of them settled around the Jordan River or at Port Mouton. Also, I was once told that some of them removed to Guysborough County a bit later, and was even given the name of Indian Harbour Lake there. However, I find no trace of them in Guysborough County records. I'm looking for any that might have a connection to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, prior to 1783-1784. Thanks for any information or suggestions. Best wishes, George Sanborn
Dear List, Has anyone on the list come across the name of Corporal Richard Moorfield of Shelburne? He was disbanded in New York from the 17th Light Dragoons and obtained a town lot and a water lot in Shelburne where he, his wife, and daughter, settled in 1783. They were among the passengers on the vessel, 'L'Abbondance.' In 1784 the Moorfields removed to Bedeque, P.E.I., where they had been given a grant of 200 acres. I can find no record of what became of the Shelburne property. There are no deeds on file regarding it. Any ideas? Regards, George Sanborn

Dear List, I am a new subscriber and trying to find anyone who knows something about the family of Matthew Edmund Devine and his wife, Sarah Alice Murphy. He was from "Shelburne," and she was from Pubnico. Matthew was a school-teacher and taught at Argyle at the time of the 1881 census. He and Sarah Alice (known as Alice) were married in Yarmouth County, and at least three children were born there. After 1881 they all disappear. Did they return to live in Shelburne County? I am particularly interested in their son, Thomas M. Devine, who married in Boston in 1899 to my relative, Annie C. MacPherson, from Cape Breton. I have been unable to find any trace of Tom and Annie after their 1899 marriage. Did they return to Shelburne County to live, too? Any help with the Devines will be much appreciated. To all:- I have been plagued with pop-ups plus "other" photos, so mentioned this to my talented webmaster, Bryan Keddy. He surprised me with an early Mother's Day gift -- so I am sharing this coast-to-coast-to-coast site with everyone! http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Farm/7843/poll.html has been changed to a new address http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~downhome/post1901census.htm It is WORK IN PROGRESS -- the final finishing touches, but all sites are listed -- many links from across Canada. Hope everyone enjoys the stacks of reading material posted there! If it is raining in your area, as in Ontario -- good time to explore!! Muriel M. Hello John:- For Sheet Harbour, it should be CAN-NS-HALIFAX-L-request@rootsweb.com and CAN-NS-GUYSBOROUGH-L-request@rootsweb.com Use only one word subscribe As my husband was from Ecum Secum, family in Sheet Harbour, I am on both lists. Sheet Harbour is in Halifax County -- but the families are intertwined -- both are wonderful lists, not too busy, with helpful list administrators. Hope you find your Kenney families. Muriel M.
