Hi Folks: Just arrived home from a weekend trip to find this e-mail in my box. Annie Cairns ( Fereday), a home child had started the Middlemore reunions in New Brunswick 24 years ago. I believe there are now only two home children living in NB that we know of : Sid Coles and Elsie Hathaway (Lake). In Nova Scotia there are also two, to our knowledge: Gwen Pottie (Bennett) and William ( Bill) Bell (Powell). She had been in the nursing home in Saint John for the past few weeks and Sheila knew she would not be able to return to her home in Fredericton. While Annie's mind was still clear, she had become very weak - she was 90 in April. The funeral will be held in Fredericton, on Monday at 2:00pm , from McAdam's Funeral Home. There will be a burial. Annie's passing is a great loss to the Home Children but her well recorded memories will go on forever.
