    1. [Queens] Post-1901 Census: Bill S-13 Discussed -- Vote Later
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- There was a lengthy discussion on CPAC re Bill S-13 from House of Commons -- at least six Members of Parliament spoke on this bill. Mention was made of the Canada Census Committee, plus the avalanche of mail on this one topic -- most mail to date. However, speakers seemed to agree that lengthening the time to 120 years was alright -- possibly these were not genealogists. The OPT-IN item and the "undertaking" were mentioned. All speakers stressed the census records were complete history of our country, naming each category. The Speaker, Peter Milliken stated all Members be called for a vote. Don Boudria, MP, asked if the vote could be held the FIRST Monday on return to Parliament after the Liberal leadership convention. The permission was granted -- no date given. Today was The Right Honourable Jean Chrétien's LAST day in the House of Commons -- and he was well and thoroughly praised, and also "roasted". His wife, Aline was there in the gallery. If interested in the Liberal leadership convention, find CPAC now. Muriel M.
