    3. NOW I AM REALLY BACK!!!!! Yes, Wayne, what happened to the capitalized words and Mount Pleasant Cemetery? "What happened to COMMON SENSE, PERSPECTIVE and INTENT," I am copying in a young friend from Liverpool, Nova Scotia -- Tim MacDonald -- and his books should be copied in all research centres. Tim has taken photos of EVERY tombstone in Queens County cemeteries, all photos are 4 x 6, with history notes on the right side of the page. His shelves of books are at the Thomas H. Raddall Research Centre in Liverpool, NS -- and one does not have to go traipsing through cemeteries, as I have done -- Tim has done the pictorial work -- we can sit comfortably at a table and research. Should there not be a stone of some type -- Tim also includes the page with history -- years ago, some could not afford stones and therefore used large beach rocks -- only the master cemetery plan tells him where those people are buried. As for this idiotic law -- we do have an election in TORONTO -- ask the front-runners -- do not wait -- the time is now! Aren't you glad I am back with my griping!!! Muriel M. Davidson muriel_davidson@sympatico.ca Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee ============= Here's a twist on this story. I can't understand why they would want to do it but perhaps the company, which also designs and carves monuments, is invoking its rights under the Copyright Act to control the use of the images placed on monuments. The privacy statement on their website makes no mention of a prohibition on photographing headstones, although the section dealing with monuments includes the following statement "We can show you countless approaches to design, walking with you through the cemetery or reviewing our extensive collection of photographs." Thus, it would appear that the prohibition on photographing monuments might be to protect their commercial interests in the monument design. Or, on the other hand it might be attributed to the zeal of the guard. The policy regarding the protection of the privacy of their clients is even more ridiculous when I can read the list of names of those buried in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, City of Toronto, York County, Ontario at <http://www.interment.net/data/canada/ontario/york/toronto/pleasant> Gordon in Ottawa
