    1. [Queens] Any Nova Scotian Miles out there?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Miles, Freeman, Keddy, Crouse Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DQC.2ACI/258 Message Board Post: I am a sixth generation descendant of John Miles, who emigrated from Norwich, Norfolk, England to Milton/Liverpool, Queens in the early 1780s. I live far away from Nova Scotia, in the States (Virginia), so finding descendants from this line has been difficult. John married Thankful Freeman and had John Miles (b 2 Jul 1787), William Miles (b 12 Apr 1789), Robert Miles (b 29 Apr 1791), Thomas Miles (b ca 1795), Freeman Miles (b ?), Susannah Miles (b 1806), Eunice Miles (b ?), and Barnabas Miles (b 1808). Thankful Freeman's family migrated from Barnstable, Mass. to Nova Scotia prior to the American Revolution. Barnabas Miles (d 17 Aug 1893, Greenfield, Queens) md Eliza Keddy. Their children were Olive/Olivia Miles (b 28 Jul 1834), Mary Elizabeth Miles (b 1846), Henry Allen Miles (b ca 1849). Henry Allen Miles (b Greenfield, d 25 Jun 1921, Plymouth, MA) md Elizabeth Matilda Crouse 14 Oct 1871. Their children were Wallace Judson Miles (b 29 Jun 1873), Alice Parson Miles (b 27 Dec 1874), Joseph Howe Miles (b 11 Jul 1879), Mary Burton Miles (b 11 Jan 1882), George Stanley Miles (b 20 Mar 1886, d 22 Jun 1886), and George Outhitt Miles (b 1 May 1887). Henry Allen Miles died not long after he and Matilda moved to Plymouth. Naturalization papers were drawn up but Matilda died before signing them. George Outhitt Miles (b Annapolis, Nova Scotia, d 3 Mar 1942, Long Island, NY) md (1) Ida Tew Scott of Newport, RI, and (2) Edith Webb. He became a U.S. citizen, served in WWI, and was an avid horseman and trainer. Only child of George Outhitt Miles and Ida Tew Scott was George Scott Miles, my father. He was aged 3 when his mother died. His father later remarried and had a daughter, Edith Miles. Have been looking for years to find any other descendants of this Miles line; aside from my own direct line, I have found no further information of living descendants. Several of George Outhitt's siblings also moved into the States, primarily to Mass., and several children, born probably in the 1920s are known, but nothing further. I have always thought that there may be Miles descendants, from one or more of the other sons of immigrant John Miles, still living in Nova Scotia. If you are related, or know of someone who may be, I would love to hear from you. Margaret Tew Miles
