    1. D-DAY -- A Busy Weekend!!
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- This D-DAY 60th Anniversary weekend will not be as busy as it was June 6, 1944 -- and many things are happening!! Should anyone desire to view the actual ceremonies at Normandy one had better set the alarm clock for 4 AM! EST. The ceremony will be hosted by Lloyd Robertson of CTV and will be re-broadcast at 1 PM Sunday, June 6th -- due to time differences.. It is nice to know that 62 veterans, not only 60, will be there, courtesy of Stephen Harper and Jack Layton -- they gave up their seats to the vets. Others include 72 staffers and others with the Prime Minister. At Sunnybrook Veteran's Wings, where my husband resides, Ontario's Lieutenant-Governor James Bartleman will dedicate a therapeutic garden in back of the Kilgour Wing. Following lunch, a March Past with Salute to the Veterans will include 1,000 soldiers and bands, marching to the Legislature Building - a distance of 9.9 kms -- the distance the Canadians marched on June 6, 1944. Locally, in Brampton - and for the first time -- the two Royal Canadian Legion branches are holding joint ceremonies. For more details about Juno Beach, OUR Canadian memorial, click on http://www.junobeach.org/ There are other sites -- all updated!! I am hoping the Ulster Accordion Band will be one of the Canadian bands, as they were last year for the dedication of the Canadian Juno Beach centre. Please remember -- one of the reasons we desire the release of the 1911 census records is that names of those who fought and lost their lives on behalf of us will be listed on the 1911 records, scheduled for release on June 1, 2003 -- a bit late!!!
