Should you do a search for Canada's "Young Offender's Act", you will feel the way many of us do. Due to the PRESENT act, a young person of 16, more or less, could commit murder or some other crime, but the judge is only allowed to give a "slap on the wrist", for example - six months probationary - a few weeks "house arrest" - no loss of any privileges There are many other changes needed -- years ago, the law was different -- a few weeks in jail gave the young person time to think about possibly years behind bars.
