A very successful family reunion was held last weekend 18-19-20 July 2003 at Port Williams, NS. The JESS and PAYZANT families were well represented throughout the weekend which included visits to Falmouth, NS on Saturday and Scott's Bay, NS on Sunday. At the Jess-Payzant family supper 220 people enjoyed a great meal at the Port Williams Community Centre. At Scott's Bay, 150 people viewed the village with its Jess (1850) houses and the old homestead (1792)on Oxley Steele Road. People enjoyed wieners on the beach and ice cream in Seaside Centre. Jess and Payzant families came from as far away as California, Oregon, North Dakota, Minnesota, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan...to name some of the areas. On Saturday morning, many came to hear Linda Layton talk about her new book 'A Passion to Survive"...about Louis and Marie Payzant. Allen Jess gave a talk about his current research of the Jess family of North Kingstown, Rhode Island and Falmouth, Nova Scotia.
