Any good resources for Liverpool Drews that I should look into? Thank you very much for any help! Rob

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Graham Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DQC.2ACI/247 Message Board Post: I am looking for info concerning Alexander & Jane Graham. They had a son, James, born in 1814 after being detained. The following is the only history I can find on this family. If any info is available concerning this family, I would greatly appreciate it. "The GRAHAM'S were of Scottish decent. Alexander and Jane emigrated from England to America in 1812 and was en route at the time of war was declared between Great Britain and the United States. The vessel on which they were passengers was seized by a British man-of-war, Atalanta, on the western border of George's Bank and taken to a port in Nova Scotia where the passengers were detained as prisoners. Sixty-two Irish passengers, men, women and children were forced on board. The excuse used was that they did not clear or pass the custom house. NOT TRUE! All the names except some of the children were on the customs house return. This happened June 24, 1811. After the Atalanta arrived in Halifax, 43 people were removed to a sloop, which sailed to the island of St. John, Nova Scotia with directions that they should be put on the estate of Lord James Townshead. Alex was a stonemason by trade and worked on government buildings during the time he was held as a prisoner and i! t was at this time that James was born, the year of his birth being 1814. After peace was declared between the United States and Great Britain the family was released and came direct to Pike township, Coshocton county, the year of their arrival here being 1816." 3. In January there was an e-mail to the Queens Co. list asking for information on these families. I sent it on to Elsie Thoresen and the following is her reply. I would appreciate anything on (Harold) Maynard Hartlen's ancestry to connect him to the Hirtle's. I do have the obit for his grandfather Mack - listing 9 children - which is his father? Also would appreciate any data on the families of any of these children and those of his grandfather's brother and sister. ANYTHING would be a great help.

I'm not sure why you couldn't get through, maybe a mistake in my email address. Do you know why your family changed the name to McKinnon? Was it legally done? Maybe this is why I haven't been able to find much info. I am also researching the Hick's side of the family. Edna Hicks married my father-in-law James McKenna. Her mothers name was Susan Amelia Gardner. Her father died when she was a baby, and her mother not long after. She was brought up by the Crosly's. Do you know anything about that side of the family. Do you have John McKenna's father as John McKenna married to Elizabeth Cahoon?
