I have a pic of him and a photocopy of his sister Angelina Wear Blackburn. I also have a copy few letters from 1923 that Angelina wrote. I dont' know about Lorenzo but would love to learn and add his info to my data base. I will share what I have but it sounds like you have about the same. Thank you Denise

    1. [Queens] Jess (Payzant) Family Reunion
    2. A very successful family reunion was held last weekend 18-19-20 July 2003 at Port Williams, NS. The JESS and PAYZANT families were well represented throughout the weekend which included visits to Falmouth, NS on Saturday and Scott's Bay, NS on Sunday. At the Jess-Payzant family supper 220 people enjoyed a great meal at the Port Williams Community Centre. At Scott's Bay, 150 people viewed the village with its Jess (1850) houses and the old homestead (1792)on Oxley Steele Road. People enjoyed wieners on the beach and ice cream in Seaside Centre. Jess and Payzant families came from as far away as California, Oregon, North Dakota, Minnesota, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan...to name some of the areas. On Saturday morning, many came to hear Linda Layton talk about her new book 'A Passion to Survive"...about Louis and Marie Payzant. Allen Jess gave a talk about his current research of the Jess family of North Kingstown, Rhode Island and Falmouth, Nova Scotia. A special thank you for the planning committee for its well-planned event which was appreciated by all who attended. Also, a thank you for all who attended. Allen Jess

Her great, great grandfather was Andrew Jeans who married Elizabeth Freeman in 1826. Andrew was the son of Daniel. Daniel also had another son Isaac married to Isabella. Daniel was living in Shelburne in 1786. It appears he was a United Empire Loyalist who received a King's Bounty in Shelburne. We are also searching for information on Daniel. As yet we have not found a death record. But, birth records and other information may be available at the the public archives in Halifax. We would be happy to share information with you. Sincerely, Mike.

    1. [Queens] Hidden Treasure
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all:- The SSGS "room" seems to be hidden at the top of a building. Very possibly the businesses of Lunenburg do not realize a larger facility could bring more business for them. In Liverpool, the PERKINS HOUSE was the home of Simeon Perkins, designated as historical -- and there must be some places in Lunenburg that fall into that category -- The family of Thomas H. Raddall donated money to add a room plus contents of Tom Raddall's den -- his books are also sold there. I am proud I proofread some of his early books -- also he did not live in Halifax, as printed on his books, but Liverpool. Rather than hope for gifts of money, volunteers could assist SSGS -- for example, tickets are now being sold on a quilt. An afternoon tea is planned for August. It takes work! Muriel M. 2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. Should you do a search for Canada's "Young Offender's Act", you will feel the way many of us do. Due to the PRESENT act, a young person of 16, more or less, could commit murder or some other crime, but the judge is only allowed to give a "slap on the wrist", for example - six months probationary - a few weeks "house arrest" - no loss of any privileges There are many other changes needed -- years ago, the law was different -- a few weeks in jail gave the young person time to think about possibly years behind bars. Do not worry about security at the Bog Road cemetery -- there is one large volunteer group who work with the RCMP Muriel M. I now have over 2000 queries on site and I have been removing queries with bad addresses. (This usually comes about when someone with information contacts me saying the email address is bouncing.) Please note, I am not accepting any new queries until fall. If you need to change your address or report a capture, let me know. If you need to contact me re: a query on site, please include the surname not the 6 digit number under the flag. The number under the flag is the date the query was added, not an id number. 1. [Queens] Any Nova Scotian Miles out there?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Miles, Freeman, Keddy, Crouse Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DQC.2ACI/258 Message Board Post: I am a sixth generation descendant of John Miles, who emigrated from Norwich, Norfolk, England to Milton/Liverpool, Queens in the early 1780s. I live far away from Nova Scotia, in the States (Virginia), so finding descendants from this line has been difficult. John married Thankful Freeman and had John Miles (b 2 Jul 1787), William Miles (b 12 Apr 1789), Robert Miles (b 29 Apr 1791), Thomas Miles (b ca 1795), Freeman Miles (b ?), Susannah Miles (b 1806), Eunice Miles (b ?), and Barnabas Miles (b 1808). Thankful Freeman's family migrated from Barnstable, Mass. to Nova Scotia prior to the American Revolution. Barnabas Miles (d 17 Aug 1893, Greenfield, Queens) md Eliza Keddy. Their children were Olive/Olivia Miles (b 28 Jul 1834), Mary Elizabeth Miles (b 1846), Henry Allen Miles (b ca 1849). Henry Allen Miles (b Greenfield, d 25 Jun 1921, Plymouth, MA) md Elizabeth Matilda Crouse 14 Oct 1871. Their children were Wallace Judson Miles (b 29 Jun 1873), Alice Parson Miles (b 27 Dec 1874), Joseph Howe Miles (b 11 Jul 1879), Mary Burton Miles (b 11 Jan 1882), George Stanley Miles (b 20 Mar 1886, d 22 Jun 1886), and George Outhitt Miles (b 1 May 1887). Henry Allen Miles died not long after he and Matilda moved to Plymouth. Naturalization papers were drawn up but Matilda died before signing them. George Outhitt Miles (b Annapolis, Nova Scotia, d 3 Mar 1942, Long Island, NY) md (1) Ida Tew Scott of Newport, RI, and (2) Edith Webb. He became a U.S. citizen, served in WWI, and was an avid horseman and trainer. Only child of George Outhitt Miles and Ida Tew Scott was George Scott Miles, my father. He was aged 3 when his mother died. His father later remarried and had a daughter, Edith Miles. Have been looking for years to find any other descendants of this Miles line; aside from my own direct line, I have found no further information of living descendants. Several of George Outhitt's siblings also moved into the States, primarily to Mass., and several children, born probably in the 1920s are known, but nothing further. I have always thought that there may be Miles descendants, from one or more of the other sons of immigrant John Miles, still living in Nova Scotia. If you are related, or know of someone who may be, I would love to hear from you. Margaret Tew Miles

Surnames: Mckenna, Mckinnon, Mckenne, Mckinney Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DQC.2ACI/242.2.1.2 Message Board Post: I have done a lot of research on the Mckenna / Mckinnon family of Queens County. The gentleman in question, John Mckenne was one of the longest serving Baptist Ministers in NS, with Parsonages at Greenfield and Sable River. I spell his name "Mckenne" because that is how it is spelled on his headstone in the Rockland Cemetery, Shelburne Co. He also used the name Mckinnon earlier when he signed some Deeds at Mill Village. He married Sara Ann Hunt when her husband Thomas Hunt drowned in the Medway River at Westfield. She also has a nice headstone at Rockland. John's parents (my GGG Grandparents) were John Mckenne (Mckinney) and Elizabeth Cohoon. He used the Mckenne spelling in the Liverpool Township records when they were married in 1815. The Rev John Payzant's Marriage records spelled his name as Mckinney. John's parents (my GGGG Grandparents) were John Mckinney (he also used Mckenne, Mckenney, and Mckinnie) and Rebecca Lovitt of Chegoggin, Yarmouth County. The Lovitts came fr! om Beverly, Mass and John came to NS with the British Navy. I hope this helps.
