I have been researching this line for many years with several visits to PANS (ARMS) and to the Queens County Museum. So far I have never found any primary information source for James and Rachel other than James birth in the Granville Township book and a mention of his name in his father Elias' will of 1809 (Annapolis). The only sources I have seen are secondary, e.g. 'The Chute Genealogies' and other published genealogies. These genealogies do state that he lived in Port Medway and that Ezra lived in Mill Village/Charleston but I have not been able to verify these statements from census, church, land or VS records. Does anyone have any sources for information related to James and Rachel or to Ezra? ( I do have Ezra's marriage register entry to Elizabeth Wentzell in Trinity Anglican, Liverpool, 1832 and he is in the 1861 census of Liverpool but I have not seen any birth, christening or death record for him). Hoping to hear from anyone with their thoughts and will share all we have. regards, Brian and Marjorie (nee HULME) Waters

All you tell us is that you have Parks in Guysborough but give us no given names or dates and ask for information on the Lunenburg Parks. This is not the way to ask for information. Give us names, dates and locations and where you have looked etc. Two brothers, James and John Park, settled in New Dublin Twp, Lunenburg County 1760 - 1770. A third Park, Matthew, also settled in Lunenburg County about the same time. >From the 1881 Canada Census CD, the oldest member of the Parks clan from Milford, Guysborough is a Daniel born about 1799. In the Parks Family 1770 - 1987, pub 1987, by Mombouquette and Parks covering the descendants of James and John there is no Daniel born about 1799. However in Don Shankle's Downeast Lunenburg BMD's at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~downeast/ I find: PARKS,Daniel,Born 1802-05-03,Bap 1802-09-03,DRL,William & Magdalene,,sponsors Chris Born & wife. This is secondary information from one of the Yarmouth County History books. Mckinney is an Irish name. He took a land grant of 666 acres at Chegoggin, Yarmouth County in 1786, the same year he married Rebecca. His last will and testament was dated 1811 and began with something like "I John Mckenne, being of sound mind and weak body", which suggests he was near death at that point. I have not found any record of him after that. Rebecca died between 1800 and 1806. I say this because youngest daughter Clarisa was born in 1800 and in Andrew Lovitt's will (1806) he mentions his late daughter Rebecca. As far as I know the name never changed to Mckinnon in Yarmouth County. It became Mckenna for his descendants. His son John moved to Port Medway, Queen's County and married Elizabeth Cohoon at Liverpool in 1815. This John used Mckinney and Mckenne on documents. It was his 9 children who chan! ged their names to Mckinnon and Mckenna. For what reason I don't know. All we have to go on are documents and headstones. Perhaps the persons who wrote on these media decided how to spell the names. The oldest son Rev John at times used the name Mckinnon (on deeds) but his headstone in Shelburne County is inscribed as Mckenne. He was probably the only one who retained this name. Bob Mckinnon.
First of all, Henry's real name was Henry Stephens Inness. Note the "s" added to Stephen. Will hopefully be able to give you this information and more, if you let me know the connection -- it is in the Cornelius Clancy book -- information gathered by myself. Muriel M. There could be TWO locations known as "the hill" 1. School Street now runs from Main Street and continues past the Queens General Hospital -- it is all uphill. The area levels out as we approach the intersection of the highway around Mersey Point and Western Head. 2. - Very improbable -- as this area was then known as Herring Cove or part of Brooklyn at present. The view is terrific from these hills, though. With Simeon Perkins as writer, I believe it would be #1. Muriel M. I would very much appreciate it if someone who lives in the Liverpool area who gets the "Liverpool Advance" would be willing to watch for an obituary for: Ena Ruth (Dobson) PUSHIE She is in a nursing home in a town close to Liverpool. She's 97 years old and has been in very bad health for a long time. Since the newspaper doesn't seem to have obituaries on the web, I have no way of watching for it myself. She may, in fact, already be deceased but I can't write to ask for it since I can't provide a date. Thank you. To all:- The following may be lengthy -- copy or print and save. To date, there is no number to the Private Members Bill, but I wish Senator Donald Oliver a great deal of success! Many thanks to MY hometown and first newspaper for printing the Letter to the Editor. Muriel M. Davidson muriel_davidson@sympatico.ca Brampton, ON --- formerly Queens County, NS ================= Letter to the Editor, The Liverpool Advance, Liverpool, NS --- August 20, 2003 ============== Dear Editor:- In recent years, the phenomenon of "spam", or unsolicited commercial email, has ballooned to a problem costing Canadian businesses almost one billion dollars a year. In 2002, 7.3 billion emails were sent out over the Internet - of these, almost 32% were spam. In my view, this is an unacceptable invasion of privacy, far worse than those dinnertime telemarketing calls. Not only is spam annoying, it is often blatantly vulgar, fraudulent or sexually explicit. Spammers do not differentiate between a child's email address and that of an adult; as a result, young people are often forced to view pornographic material sent directly to their personal inbox. Again, in my view this is unacceptable. Canadians would not tolerate pornographic magazine subscriptions or free edible underwear samples turning up in their traditional post each morning. Indeed, it is against the law. They would not tolerate their pre-teen daughters' name appearing in the address box of a coupon book for diet pills and breast enhancements. So why would Canadians allow such damaging messages to enter their homes through a computer? Perhaps it is because the fluid and borderless nature of the Internet that governments and regulatory institutions have been slow to enter and control this newest technological frontier. Even though there are laws in place designed to prevent fraudulent solicitations, harrassing telephone calls and other equally unlawful activity, the problem of spam has not been resolved. Obviously, the current legislation does not have "teeth" enough to do the job. Therefore, it is time for the Government of Canada to step-up and introduce tougher legislation designed specifically to protect her citizens from abusive spammers and return to them the privacy and control over which messages they receive through their email. This is why I am proposing to introduce a Private Members Bill into the Senate this September. It will be designed to protect Internet Service Providers from shouldering the blame for spam reaching their customers' inboxes, while giving the clear message to spammers that their harmful, annoying solicitations are not welcome within our borders. It will also give individual citizens the power to be compensated for the damages theu suffer at the hands of spammers. With the support of the public, the problem of spam will soon be a thing of the past. Senator Donald H. Oliver, QC Progressive Conservative, NS
