    1. [Queens] Raise the Nova Scotia Flag for the Members of Parliament!!!
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. To all Down Home Family Researchers:- The reason for the subject line is that all ELEVEN (11) Members of Parliament are 100% supportive of Post-1901 Census Release http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Score5.htm#NS I admit it took a few LETTERS and I have already sent notes of thanks -- but all will appreciate many more. Go to the above URL, the personal scoreboard is at the left, YOU may send messages on the memo site at the right. However, although the first vote on Senator Lorna Milne's Bill S-12 will be in the Senate, her Senatorial co-appointees from Nova Scotia are letting both Senator Milne and YOU down. http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Senscore3.htm#NS There is one vacancy, but here are the ones who need letters John M. Buchanan (Halifax) -- has never replied Gerald J. Comeau (Nova Scotia) -- seems to be AGAINST J. Michael Forrestall (Dartmouth-Eastern Shore) -- NO reply B. Alasdair Graham (The Highlands) -- again, NO reply Donald H. Oliver (Nova Scotia) -- YES/NO - lives Queens County Gerard A. Phalen (Nova Scotia) -- another YES/NO Do NOT try e-mails -- grab an envelope and mail your letter, NO stamp -- if in Word, please send an attachment for posting. SUPPORTIVE:- Jane Cordy, Michael Kirby, Wilfred P. Moore Believe it or not, I have never received a PETITION from Queens, Shelburne, Guysborough Counties -- the curator of the Queens County Museum promised -- possibly not mailed yet. Signatures are the only PROOF Ottawa will accept that we want the records! http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Petition.htm Pick your petition, go to File, then Print -- or Download To understand the census situation the following is a great article http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~downhome/1906census.html [Many on the lists might recognize one in the photo] Let's give this our well-known Nova Scotian try -- go for 100%! Above all, thank the ones who are supportive! Muriel M. 1. [Queens] Post 1901 Census - Stephen Harper
    2. Muriel M. Davidson
    3. Greetings All. I have just got off the telephone from speaking to Canadian Alliance leader Stephen Harper on the Peter Warren talk show (broadcast nationally across Canada). I asked him for his position on access to Post 1901 Census records. While he stated that he would want to see specifics of what we are seeking, he was generally supportive and felt that the current situation regarding non-disclosure was too restrictive. Based on his response I will be awarding him a gold tick of support on the MPs Scoreboard. Moderator Peter Warren has been supportive of our efforts in the past, and expressed the opinion that we were "going to win this one". Happy Hunting. Gordon A. 3. Forwarded by List Admin for: Nadia Haddad Communication Officer National Archives of Canada (613) 996-0080 http://www.archives.ca/02/020122_e.html **************************************************************************** *************************************************** Since the month of May, the National Archives of Canada has endeavoured to resolve the various issues, technical and otherwise, that researchers have faced using the Census of Canada, 1901 Web site. On August 1, 2002, the National Archives implemented a new version of the MrSID viewer technology. Most problems encountered with the first plug-in (including problems faced by Mac or Netscape users or those who had downloaded another version of the MrSID viewer plug-in) should be resolved by the automatic installation of the new version. The National Archives invites you, over the next few months, to visit the improved Census of Canada, 1901 Web site often and be on the lookout for new features. If problems persist, please do not hesitate to send your inquiries to 1901@archives.ca <mailto:1901@archives.ca> . The National Archives of Canada would like to thank you for your interest in its products and for your support of its digitization program.
