Charles Reid, born 26 Dec., 1837 in Stevenston, Ayr. Scotland and died Jan. e, 1921 married in Sept. 8, 1865 Mary Cartwright who was born 1832 and died 1892. Mary was previously married to William Burrows who was born in and died in . They had: 1. Phebe Burrows (1862-1929) and she married John James MacDonald. He was from Londonderry. His parents were Donald and Mary. They lived in Inverness. They had: 1. Edward Burrows MacDonald (1881-May 2, 1965) and 2. William 2. Edward Burrows (Jan. 6. 1858 and died Aug. 2, 1942) married to Margaret Jane Henderson. She died in 1949. Married in New Glasgow. They had 1. William Henderson Burrows who married Annie Gerrior of Guysboro (RC). They were married in 1914. Her parents were Abraham and Ellen. 3. Mary (Moll) Burrows ( 1862-1948) married Aug. 31, 1889 to John D. Cameron (lived East River St. Mary's). Parents were John and Christie. Lived on College St. and then Carmel St. They had 1. John A. Cameron and 2. Mary (May) Agnes Cameron (06/02/1859-1976) and she married Sam. K. Russell ( They lived in Stellarton. Had no children Edward Burrows MacDonald is married to me a second way as he married Euphemia Hayman and they had Phoebe Ethel, and infant who died, John James, Alexander Hayman and David Wilton and Edith. Janice Burrows told me that her father had told her that when her great grandmother, Mary, was widowed with three young children, she ran a boarding house to support her family. My great grandfather came to board at her home and they married. She said that her father told her that my great grand father was kind and gentle with his three step-children. Her grandfather, Edward called his youngest son, Charles Reid Burrows(Janice's father) and then her second brother was called Edward Reid. I have a photograph album that my mother gave to Janice and she gave back to me. It has pictures of Mary Cartwright and William Burrows in it and I have no idea who the rest of the people are but Janice says they are from the second marriage of Mary to Charles. I thought I had a lot more info. About dates, etc. and I am sure I do if I could just find them. I never really got into researching the Burrows side and my records are in a mess. If anyone can add dates, etc. please do. I grew up knowing Sam Russell and Aunt May (Mary Agnes Cameron) as well as John Cameron. I know I have the Russell info. Somewhere.
