But there are so many MacDonalds and MacGillivrays! My great grandmother was Catherine MacDonald, born 1870 in Bailey's Brook. Her parents were Roderick (Rory?) MacDonald and Mary McKinnon. I believe Roderick's parents were John MacDonald and Catherine MacGillivray. How does this match up with your data? The family story is that we are descended from Alastair Og MacDonald, who came over from Scotland in 1790. Do you know anything about that?
