Cape Breton Deaths October 25, 2007 Thursday Mary Rita Miles Glace Bay It is with joyful hearts that we celebrate the life of our sister, aunt and great aunt, Mary Miles. We are thankful for every moment we shared - her spirit of kindness, generosity and love. Mary Rita Miles passed away peacefully at home, embraced by her family, Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at 3 p.m. She touched the hearts of everyone she knew. Born in Birch Grove, she was a daughter of the late William B. and Marjorie (Hillier) Miles. She was predeceased by her brother, John and is survived by brothers, Gus and William (Bea); her sisters, Evelyn McDonald and Joan MacLeod; her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews were her pride and joy. After graduation she owned and operated Big Town Dairy which fondly became known as Mary's Dairy. For close to 50 years, Mary's store was a second home for many of Glace Bay's youth. She knew them all by name and encouraged them to stay in school and be their best. Many report cards went to Mary before even their parents saw them. Mary loved knitting and crocheting. She loved to cook and bring the family together to sing and play music. Her faith was strong and was evident in her daily life. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish Church and choir. We will miss her so very much. Visitation will occur at Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay, from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. Interment in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Donations in Mary's memory may be made to Cape Breton Palliative Care or the Canadian Cancer Society. E-mail condolences to
