THOMPSON, Charles Henry - Born in Pictou, August 20th, 1925. He worked for Frank Sobey in his first store in Stellarton before joining the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942, participating in the convoys and D-Day Invasion. He served in the Navy for 27 years retiring in 1969. He met and married Elizabeth Amanda Rundle in 1948. They had seven children three daughters and four sons. After retiring from the Navy in 1969 he joined the Dartmouth Regional Vocational School as Head teacher of the Hospitality & Food Services Programme retiring in 1990. He served in many organizations as follows: Sunday School Superintendant at St. Lukes Anglican church, Akala for 2nd Westphal cub pack and Honorary lifetime Akala, church vestry committee, Synod committee Delegate, as one of the Bishops Men, Canadian Cancer Society, President hosting the Terry Fox Run, Royal Canadian Legion Centennial Branch and lifetime honorary member of Pictou legion as well as his father; Director of nova Scotia Seniors Association, member of North British and Scots Society, member of Atlantic CPO's Association, past chairman of the Masonic home Board of Nova Scotia. Also active member of the Masonic Lodge and a Past Grand master of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Nova Scotia, 50 year member of Woodlawn Lodge 131 Dartmouth, also has held many titles and positions within the Masonic Organizations, involving all concordant bodies affiliated with Masonry too many to mention. Also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star attained the rank of Worthy Grand Patron of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Amanda "Sis" Thompson (Rundle) (of New Glasgow); his daughters, Rosalind, Anita Mahood, and his brothers George, Minton, and William and his sister, Annie Higgins. He is survived by his daughters, Heather and David Mills, Chester; Charlene Fairchild, Golden B.C.; sons, Scott (Donna Tufts), Waverley; Ian, Chezzettcook; Martin and Adrian, Golden B.C.; sisters, Jean Brian, New Glasgow; Wilma Campennaro of Guelph, Ont.; many nieces and nephews; also survived by 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Service will be in St. Lukes Anglican Church, Veterans Avenue, Dartmouth, Masonic and Eastern Star service to be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Lukes Church, Veterans Avenue, Dartmouth.
