    1. [CAN-NS-PICTOU] Rev. Waldo Emerson Murray
    2. William Dunbar
    3. Hi: Still trying to find out the possible family tie to Rev. Waldo Emerson Murray born 26 Nov 1862 in Dedham Mass. Now believe his parents were Walter and Jane (Huggan) Murray and think they were from Avondale in Pictou County. There are Murray's and Huggan's on Barney's River and Merigomish. So far I can't find a Walter Murray in our family that quite fits and thought I'd post this in case there are any Huggan researchers that might have a clue. Waldo attended Pictou Academy 1882-83 and graduated from Thiel College in Pennsylvania in 1890. Mostly he was a Lutheran Minister in Rochester, New York but from 1906-1909 was at Mahone Bay parish, Nova Scotia. He died 22 Jan 1922 in Verona, New York leaving wife Clara (Diralla) and daughter Grace Murray. Thanks for any clues. Bill in Montana

    3. Hello Bill: I remember running into a similar problem with one of my Merigomish SIMPSON's , an ordained minister who preached both in Canada and at various locations in the U.S. and who finally died and was buried in the States. I just couldn't find much info on him or his family until I started to wonder whether or not his employer kept any records. In my case, the Rev. Isaac SIMPSON was a Presbyterian and so I contacted a local Presbyterian minister with my problem. He, in turn, put me in touch gave me an address for the Presbyterian Church of Canada who gave me a contact with their archival unit - based at their divinity school on the University of Toronto campus. Turns out the church archives kept complete biographical sketches on all their ministers and I was **freely** given far more information on Rev. SIMPSON than I had ever thought possible. Could it be the Lutheran Church in Canada and the United States might be in a position to help you with regards your Rev. MURRAY?? If my experience suggests anything, it would certainly seem worth a try. Best of luck.
