On the marriage record it states that they were both widows/widowers. --they had one son Robert Henry Macdonald (1873-1954) He was born in hopewell,ns but died in vancouver,bc Not sure who they were both married to before or if they had any childern however I know they were married in 1872 and william was 62 so i'm assuming Robert was their only child together.
