Austin, 86, of 386 Brother Street, New Glasgow, died Wednesday at Glen Haven Manor. Born in New Glasgow he was the son of the late Henry and Christine (MacLeod) Austin. He was a retired steelworker and an adherent of First United Baptist Church. He served overseas in the First World War. He was an active sportsman, especially in baseball. Surviving are three daughters: Shirley (Mrs. James A. Fraser) – New Glasgow; Phyllis (Mrs. Gordon MacNabb) – Sydney: Joan (Mrs. Clarence E. Dorrington) – St. John; one son, Jack – New Glasgow; one sister, Marjorie (Mrs. David Wallack) – Massachusetts; 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife the former Lois Davison, two brothers and six sisters. The body is at R.H. Porter Funeral home, New Glasgow where funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m., Rev. Donald Quigg officiating. Buria! l will be in Lorne Street Cemetery.
