Born in Campbellton, N.B., he was a son of the late Joseph and Bridget (Duguay) Trites. He served with the Special Forces (Devil's Brigade) during the Second World War. He was a former president of Transit Concrete. He was a past Grand Knight of the Dartmouth Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree Knight). He was a past president of the Dartmouth Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the Dartmouth School Board and past president of St. Joseph Orphanage in Halifax. He is survived by his wife, Ludgarde (Theriault); two sons, Mark, Halifax; Brian, New Glasgow; five daughters, Susan (Mrs. Carroll Publicover); Maureen (Mrs. Paul Nauss); both of Bridgewater; Lorraine (Mrs. Milfred Quinn), Charlottetown; Deborah (Mrs. Kevin Wells), Dartmouth; Katherine Trites, Charlottetown; six brothers, Fred, Gordon, both of Campbellton, N.B.; Wallace, Sept ! Iles, Que.; Arthur, Barrie, Ont.; Clifford, Dartmouth; Harold, Windsor Junction; two sisters, Alice Scott, St. Catherines, Ont.; Hazel, Frederickton; 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Jacob, Edward, Raymond; two sisters, Kay, Dora; a grandson. A memorial mass was held Tuesday, May 31, at St. Clements Church, Dartmouth with Rev. Walsh officiating. Burial of ashes in Mount Hermon Cemetery, Dartmouth. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Posted for information only.
