Born in Paisley, Scotland, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Ann (Chalmers) Kirkwood and adoptive parents William (Billy) and Olive Webster. She lived in Stellarton all her married life, where she was a member of Sharon St. John United Church. She was employed at the Stellarton Medical Centre as a receptionist for 25 years. She served in the Canadian Armed Forces during the Second World War and was a member of Branch 28 Royal Canadian Legion, Stellarton. Surviving is her husband, Francis; her chosen mother, Peggy Kirkwood, Thorburn, Pictou County; a daughter, Frances (Mrs John Doudelet), Stellarton; a son, Ernest, Glengarry; four sisters, Agnes (Mrs Robert Keirstead), Moncton; Marguerite (Mrs Clarence Ehler), MacPherson's Mills; Dolly (Mrs George Rockey), Pine Tree; Jean (Mrs Barry Stewart), Te! tford; a brother, Sandy Kirkwood, New Glasgow; six grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sisters and a brother. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday (today), Apr. 13 in Sharon St. John United Church, Stellarton, Rev. Norman MacDougall officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity. Posted for information only.
