Born in Sydney Mines, C.B., he was a son of Mrs. Margaret (Cochrane) Young Matheson and the late Charles Young. He moved to Stellarton 16 years ago from Sydney Mines. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Young was also a member of Branch 28, Stellarton Royal Canadian Legion. Surviving besides his mother, are his wife, the former Yvonne Sutherland; two sons: Tommie, Toronto; Stephen, at home; seven daughters: Brenda (Mrs. Gordon MacGregor), New Glasgow; Margaret (Mrs. Wayne McDavid), Catherine (Mrs. Clifford Vacheresse), both of Lourdes; Leona (Mrs Donald Holley), Valerie (Mrs. Richard Tucker), both of Stellarton; Dolores and Tracie, both at home; 13 grandchildren. Funeral mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Our ! Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. No funeral home visitation by request of the family. Donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Acadia Avenue, Stellarton. The New Glasgow Evening News, Thursday, February 19, 1987 - STELLARTON - The funeral mass for Charles Young was held Thursday, Feb. 12 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Rev. Joe Gillis officiated and brought words of comfort to the family. The church choir led the singing of the hymns. Pallbearers were Gordon MacGregor, Wayne McDavid, Donald Holley, Clifford Vacheresse, Richard Tucker, sons-in-law, and Vincent MacDonald. Members of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton, were honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Posted for information only.
