Born in Westville, she was a daughter of the late James and Gertrude (Madore) Melanson. She was a member of Stella Maris Church, the Notable Friends Choir and the Pictou Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. She was active in Rotary Club musical productions. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; two daughters, Paula (Mrs Reg MacCarthy), Lyons Brook; Karen (Mrs Darryl Wiseman), St. John's, Nfld.; three sons, Michael, Riverton; Stephen, Caribou; Mark, at home; a sister, Mrs Madonna Fournier, Grand Prairie, Alta.; four brothers, Henry, Halifax; Robert and Nelson, Victoria, B.C.; Gerald, London, Ont.; six grandchildren. Funeral service was held Friday, May 13 in Stella Maris Church, Pictou, Rev Kyte Gillis officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Socie! ty.
