Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late William and Amy (Stallard) Westerman. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Canadian Army. He was a member of Branch 34, Royal Canadian Legion, New Glasgow, Albion Lodge No. 5, AF and AM, New Glasgow. He was a former manager of the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission, New Glasgow. He is survived by his wife, the former Eva H. Rennie; four daughters, April, Halifax; Vicki (Mrs Harvey MacLeod), Stellarton; Cheryl (Mrs Fred Lays), Fox Brook, Pictou County; Dorothy Jill (Mrs Harold Tye), New Glasgow; three sons, William (Billy), Riverton; Darrell, Stewiacke; Peter, New Glasgow; three sisters, Mary (Mrs Clarence Smeltzer), Ontario; Rose (Mrs Donald Bowes), Dartmouth; Jean, New Glasgow; 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Ted. Funeral was held Tuesday (yesterday) in! St. George's Anglican Church, New Glasgow, Rev. Calvin Russell officiating. Burial will be in Lorne Street Cemetery.
