Born in Merigomish she was the former Aleta Murdock, daughter of the late Alexander R. and Lucy (Dearn) Murdock. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church and a member of the Ladies Guild. Surviving are a daughter, Irene (Mrs. Bud MacAulay) – Walkerville; two sons:: Gilbert – Halifax and Leroy – Ponds; four sisters: Anna Mae (Mrs. Ronald Nicholson) – Ponds; Loretta (Mrs. Arthur Arbuckle) – Malignant Cove; Norma (Mrs. Clair Mingo) – Tatamagouche; Doris (Mrs. Charles Arbuckle) – New Glasgow; eight brothers: James and Stewart – Toronto; Harry, Leroy, Arthur, Sammy, Jackie, and Kenny all of the Ponds; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Chan. The body is at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funer! al service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kenneth MacLeod and Lloyd Murdock officiating with burial in Murray’s Point Cemetery.
