Born in MacLellan's Brook, he was a son of the late Frank and Katherine (Robertson) Turnbull. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in the Pacific with the Royal Canadian Signals Corps, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was employed with Hawker-Siddeley Canada Ltd. until his retirement this year. He was active in community affairs and served on Stellarton Town Council, 1960-64. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton and served on its board of managers until his death. He was a member and past master of Keith Lodge, No. 23 A.G. & A.M., Stellarton. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Chapter, No. 14, R.A.M., New Glasgow, the Malta Preceptory No. 27, K.T., Truro and the Philae Temple, A.A.O.N.M. Shrine, Halifax. He was a member and past patron of the Harmony Chapter, No. ! 24, Order of the Eastern Star, an honorary member of several chapters and past grand patron of the Grand Chapter of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are his wife, the former Dora Sloan; a daughter, Mrs Donna Richard, Red Deer, Alta.; two sons, Alan, Stellarton; Bruce, Truro; a brother, Robert, New Glasgow; six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Frances, in infancy. Funeral was held Monday, July 25 in First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, Rev. Murdo Marple officiating. Burial was in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children or Nova Scotia Heart Foundation. Posted for information only.
