Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Thomas and Rebecca (Johnson) Spence. He lived in Londonderry for most of his life and was a veteran of both the First and Second World Wars. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, branch No. 106, Debert. He is survived by his wife, the former Lillian Ettinger; four sons; four daughters; three brothers; three sisters, including Nellie Blair, Pictou; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held Thursday, Apr. 14 at Acadia United Church, Londonderry, Rev. Daniel Gunn officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Londonderry, at a later date.
