Aloha, I'm seeking info on my maternal G-G-Grandfather, per above. He was not a Canadian. During years ~ 1848 - ~ 1869, he was U.S. consul at Pictou, NS. I believe he died there ( 1869 ); I'd like to confirm this, obtain a death notice/obituary, and, if possible, discover where he was buried. Maj. B.H. Norton was born Edgartown, MA - 1801; his widow -- if she didn't predecease him -- would've been Augusta ( Ware ) Norton. I haven't yet been able to find Augusta's date of death, hence some mystery attaches! In addition, my searches indicate that one son, Frank Henry Norton, was educated at the academy in Pictou. Frank H. was born Hingham, MA, 20 March, 1836 -- from which one can infer possible years of attendance at the Academy. He was my great uncle, and went on to follow the established family tradition of journalism, and related literary pursuits. I'm a relative novice at genealogy research, and totally unfamiliar with Canadian archives and records. Any assistance will be very much appreciated. Thank you! Victoria C. Hoagland Hawai'i
