Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Florence (DeYoung) Jewell and the late George Jewell. She was a member of Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow, and of the women's auxiliary. She was a member of the Disability Improved Action League, Halifax, and was a former Sunday school teacher and CGIT leader. She is survived by a son, Harvey, Halifax; five sisters, Mary (Mrs David Kane), North Carolina; Anna Mae (Mrs Lester Curley), Texas; Della (Mrs Clinton Adams), Dartmouth; Sharon and Janice, both of Halifax and a brother, Thomas, Halifax. Besides her father, she was predeceased by a brother, George James. Funeral was held Monday in Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow, Rev. Ogueri Ohanaka officiating. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery, New Glasgow.
