[ on the 25th, Jan. ] after a short illness, Peter Suther Smith, merchant, in the 38th year ofhis age, leaving a wife and 4 children to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate husband and father. [ NOVASCOTIAN of Feb. 7th says: on the 25th Jan.] 19 Feb.1859 - Married - At Portaupique, Feb.3rd; by Rev. James Reed, Henry Morrison, s/o Thomas, of Debert River, to Esther Fletcher, of Portaupique. - Died - At Truro, Saturday,12 inst; after a short illness, Alexander L. Archibald, Esq; aged 71 years. The deceased was for 17 years a representative of Truro, in the Assembly and died universally lamented. 21 Mar.1859 - Died - At Five Islands, of putrid sore throat, Thursday, 10th inst; Daniel Smith, youngest s/o Daniel Morrison, Esq., aged 7 years. 02 Apr.1859 - Married - at Chatham, Miramichi, 19th ult; Samuel Thompson, Esq; to Jane Walker, eldest d/o Issac McCurdy, of Truro, N.S. 16 Apr.1859 - Died - At Truro, Saturday last,of inflamation of the brain, Newton, second s/o the late Rev. J. McMurray, in the 12 year of his age. 18 July 1859- Married - At Upper Stewiacke, Monday morning, 11th inst; by Rev.James Smith, D.D., David Blackwood, to Jane Smith, eldest d/o the officiating clergyman. 23 July 1859 - Married - On the 14th inst; by Rev.A.L.Wyllie, John Blackie, to Adelaide, d/o the late G.W.McLelan, Esq; Londonderry.
