He was born in Trenton son of the late Mr. & Mrs. William Bruce. He operated a farm, sawmill, and ice business here for some years, later working at the Trenton plants. During World War II he worked at Ferguson Industries, Pictou. For a time he was the water and street superintendent for this town and retired several years ago. Surviving are his wife Mary Ellen, five daughters, Mrs. Sylvia MacKenzie – Lourdes, Isabel (Mrs. Stanley Hessian) – Trenton, Jean (Mrs. Clarence Maughan) – Bridgewater, Olive (Mrs. Myron Redding) – Winnipeg, Helen (Mrs. Neil MacEachern) – Glenfalloch, four sons: Aubrey and Harvey – Toronto, Leslie – Trenton, Hugh – Montreal, 28 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. His body is at the Ross Funeral Home – High Street an! d the funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday from Trenton United Church and the service will be conducted by Rev. David Hamilton.
