Born in Birmingham, England, he was the son of the late Albion and Edith (Child) Smith. He was a retired stationary engineer having worked at R.K. MacDonald Guest House, Antigonish, for more than 17 years. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with North Shore Regiment in France and Germany. He was a member of Arras Branch 59, Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by four daughters: Edith and Theresa, both at home; Mary Josephine, Melville, Sask.; Isabel (Mrs. Angus MacDonald), Antigonish; two sons, Edward, Antigonish; Kevin, Petawawa, Ont.; eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Florence Kelly; two sisters, Edith and May; three brothers, Sidney, Stanley and Alfred. The remains are in Curry Brothers Funeral Home, Antigonish. Funeral service will be held! at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Ninian's Cathedral, Antigonish. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Posted for information only.
