To Robert and Muriel Thanks for the tip. But would you believe -no Donald mcGlashen any where in their records. Not even, as far as I can tell- in the Books of Remembrance.Four McGlashans- note the different spelling - showed up as being buried overseas when i did a search. But no McGlashens!? So , Jean, as I now realize from searching the War Site, Donald is supposedly on the Pictou Cenotaph ( under Bailey's River). If so could you possibly verify the spelling for me. I shouldn't obsess about this as he may turn out not to be related. But as there are so few leads to the McGlashens , I would like to make sure one way or the other By the way if anybody has any Presbyterian Witness documents my grandfather John Archibald McGlsashen was not only a Presbyterian minister (until 1925 when he went United Church ), but I just today had a chance to view records( a biography) till now in the possesion of a recently deceased aunt that said he was also a frequent contributer to the Presbyterian Witness.I knew he wrote for the Halifax papers- his nom de plume there was "the Bellman" His father Donald died in 1895- was the Witness then in existence that I could go to to Truro and search for a mention of his death. Was the Pictou Advocate in existence then? Sorry for the questions, questions- but as i have little free time I am not planning to get into the onsite research stuff without being well prepared. Since I live in Elmsdale I feel I am well situated to search in both Hlfx area and Truro or even Pictou or New Glasgow. So for example I would go search the Presbyterian Witness well armed with all avaiable facts to narrow my search. For that matter if anyone on the list need info from that source and wsn't in a hurray , I could search for them too. It won't be before July as I am a single parent and have an 18 yr. old graduating who managed to get himself a girl friend just in time to get involved in prom, while at the same time finalizing his univ. future . He will be the 4th generation to attend (and hopefully graduate from) Dalhousie. His g.granfather McGlashen graduated in 1891. Thanks again Stewart
