Born in Stellarton he was a son of the late Thomas and Nora (Duggan) Roach. He was a lifelong resident of Stellarton. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Knights of Columbus. He was a former employee at Acadia Coal Co. and Nova Co. After his retirement he was employed by the Town of Stellarton as a curator of the Miner’s Museum. He is survived by his wife, the former Marjorie George; two daughters, Barbara (Mrs. Bob Hoddinnott) – Yellowknife, NWT; Florence (Mrs. David Ward) – Stellarton; a son, Freeman – Antigonish; a sister, Nora Linthorne – Stellarton; a brother, John – Stellarton; four grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sist! ers. The body is at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart Foundation or the Pictou County chapter of the Kidney Foundation.
