Fred Williams – Barney’s River Station – a lumberman well-known throughout the province for the last 50 years died at Aberdeen Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Williams was 71, a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. James Williams of Marshy Hope and had lived most of his life in Barney’s River Station. He was a member of Kenzieville Presbyterian Church where he was on the church’s Board of Managers. He was also a member of Hudson Lodge No. 77 AF&AM – Thorburn and the City Club, New Glasgow. Surviving are his wife, the former Georgina Grant, James River, four sons, Grant, Lawrence, Gerald, and Elmer at Barney’s River Station, three daughters; Emily (Mrs. Allister Smith) – Sarnia, Ontario – Margaret (Mrs. Edward Fraser) – New Glasgow, and Adell (Mrs. Bryce Keays) – Moncton, three brothers; Hugh – Randolph, Massachu! setts, Marshall – Barney’s River Station, and Millard – Westville, one sister, Sadie (Mrs. Fred Eddy) – Cambridge, Massachusetts, and 22 grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers; Joe (1931), Alex (1950) and Henry in infancy. The remains are at the home and the funeral will be held from Barney’s River Presbyterian Church with burial in Glen Bard Cemetery.
