If one belonged to Kirk of Scotland Church in Hopewell 1838, does anyone know what church that would have been? Is it different from the Presbyterian Church? Thanks for any leads. Ruth
Hi Ruth: I recently asked a similar question on the N.B. list, and here is one response that may help explain, I'm sorry I didn't copy the source. 5) - "Kill McColl" is likely a misprint for "Kirk-McColl", which is the name of the United Church in St. Stephen.N.B. "Kirk" refers to the Scottish/Presbyterian origins of the congregation, and "McColl" refers to the Methodist origins; the Methodist movement in Charlotte County and St. Stephen was founded by Rev. Duncan M'Coll.
