McColl, of 1285 Richmond Road, Ottawa, died Wednesday, June 8, in Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre, Ottawa. Born in Aylmer, Que., she was a daughter of the late Hector and Alice (Smith) Milks. Educated in Ottawa schools, she continued her training in Butler Hospital, Providence, R.I. Returning to Ottawa, she joined the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON). After working in several Ontario cities, she attended Western University, London, Ont., graduating with a degree in public health. She returned to the VON and, in 1933, moved to New Glasgow, where she was put in charge of the local VON branch. In 1936, she married R. Malcolm McColl and in 1937 they moved to Sydney where, during the Second World War, she served with the St. John Ambulance Brigade. In 1943, she and her husband returned to New Glasgow where she was active in the IODE and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Ladies Guild. Moving to Halifax in 1954, she w! as elected to the board of management of Victoria Hall, a retirement home for aged ladies. In 1976, they moved to Ottawa and joined St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Besides her husband, Malcolm, she is survived by two sisters, a nephew and three nieces. She was predeceased by a brother. The body was cremated. Committal services will be held in Aylmer at a later date.
