Born at The Marsh, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Ross) McIver. She was a resident of Kenzieville most of her life, with the exception of a few years spent in Trenton. She was a member of the Barney's River Presbyterian Church, the Ladies Aid, and the W.M.S. She and her late husband owned and operated the General Store in Kenzieville for many years. She is the last surviving member of her family. Surviving are four daughters, Isobel (Mrs John Wesley), New Glasgow; Dolly (Mrs Bailey Matheson), Gairloch; Grace (Mrs. Joe Richard), Kenzieville; Joy (Mrs Doug Williams), Bedford; three sons, Robert, Trenton; David, Halifax; Donald, James River; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George Kay; three sisters, Mary Catherine, Dolina and Elizabeth; one brother, Jo! hn David; one son, George David; a daughter, Jean Diane. Funeral was held 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Barney's River Presbyterian Church, Rev. Patrick Maxham officiating. Burial was in Kenzieville Cemetery. Donations may be made to the church or cemetery fund. The New Glasgow Evening News, Thursday, December 11, 1986 - KENZIEVILLE - The funeral of Malcena MacKay was held in the Barney's River Presbyterian Church in Kenzieville December 2. The service was conducted by the Rev. Patrick Maxham who brought words of comfort to the family and thanksgiving for the life of Mrs. MacKay. The choir led in the singing of the 23rd Psalm and Rejoice The Lord is King. Catherine Maxham, soloist, sang The Lord's Prayer. The organist was Burns MacDonald. Pallbearers were grandsons Ross MacKay, Kirby, Steven and Tony Richard, Jay and Chris Wesley. Honorary pallbearers were Harold and Alex MacDonald, Eddie Greene, Irving Sutherland, Donald Sutherland, Kenneth MacKay and Delbert Warner. Interment was in Kenzieville cemetery.
