Hi Doug I am the "gentleman" although I must say that I am rarely called that these days - thank you Doug. I will send Rick the Marshdale listing direct - I am not sure if there are any "rules" about attachments to these messages. I also have some info about the land that Alexander owned from which Rick, you may be able make some sense in relation to your Simon. "The crown land records of the Province of Nova Scotia , Book 19 Page 149 records a grant which is dated December 17 1792 describing the allocation of lot 24 on the west side if the East River of Pictou of 6,544 acres. This land was parcelled out to a large group Highland settlers included amongst them was Hugh Fraser of Strathglass. The grant which is occupied by my [Duncan Fraser's] father's first cousin George Duncan Matheson Fraser, is midway between the East and West Rivers of Pictou." regards Rod Llewellyn Auckland, NZ -----Original Message----- From: Doug Sinnis [mailto:dsinnis@ns.sympatico.ca] Sent: Friday, 8 February 2002 1:13 a.m. To: CAN-NS-PICTOU-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PICTOU-L] Hugh FRASER, died Marshdale , Pictou,1808 Hi Rick This particular Hugh Fraser is buried in Marshdale Cemetery. I sent the information about him to a gentleman in New Zealand last week, but unfortunately can't remember his name. He was trying to contact Duncan Fraser who was a descendant of this Hugh Fraser. I advised him that Duncan was now deceased and also I sent him Duncan's obituary. Duncan's brother Ian is still living in Halifax. He is the gentleman who was in charge of the "International Tattoo" that is held in Halifax every year. The stone in Marshdale reads: 1. Hugh Fraser (1754-1808) and his wife Margaret Wishard (1754-1842). Incidentally, the Marshdale district still exists. It is a mile or so west of the village of Hopewell. Foxbrook is more or less north-west of Hopewell. Regards, Doug. S. Richard MacNeil wrote: > Hi there TC & SM, > > I may have something for you......
